What it is
For holding things that are far too hot to hold. Long handles, firm grip, no moving parts to service or replace.
Tongs are the tool that decides whether the rest of the work is possible. A pair that does not hold the stock squarely turns every hammer blow into a small argument, and the piece walks out of the jaws exactly when it matters.
These are drawn from a single billet and riveted, with flat bits ground parallel and reins long enough that the heat reaching your hand is heat that has travelled 450 mm to get there. The rivet is peened rather than bolted: there is nothing to work loose and nothing to tighten.
They are sold in a single size because a single size covers most flat stock. If your work does not fit them, buy the pair that fits your work rather than the pair that adjusts.
